After food we cleaned up and set off on our first adventure, rock hopping at Mewslade. We walked down the various lanes, Pete tried to catch us out by walking in one direction, we followed and then he would turn back round and go completely the opposite way. It was funny at first, but got annoying quite soon.
We eventually made it down to the beach and began scrambling across the rocks and squeezing through really tight holes. Some of us made our way through easily, while others needed some encouragement to get through the tiny gaps.
We continued to move up and over all the rocks, before long the tide started to come really close, so we had to make our way back to the path.
On the way and the way back Pete and Gethin told us all about Limestone, where it came from and what it smells like. We also got the chance to eat a variety of natural plants, such as wild garlic (which wasn't very nice at all, especially the flower) and also hawthorn leaves (which tasted of apple skin). Most of us tried a piece of something, but again, some of us were braver and more adventurous than others.
Once back at the Centre, we had a chance to shower, change and have a bit of down time before we had a buffet tea of pizza, sausage rolls, sausages and sandwiches. Once we finished all of our food we had a bit more down time, getting used to our new surroundings. It was then time to complete our diaries before watching a DVD with a drink and some sweets.
It has been an exciting day and there now quite a few sleepy heads, ready to go to bed and prepare for a day of Rock Climbing and Gorge Walking tomorrow.
