Unfortunately, sue to the weather, the rest of the school were unable to wave us off, but we headed towards the bus regardless. As we got there our families were ready to wave us off and give us a hug & kiss goodbye. Some found it really hard to let us go and followed us onto the bus.
We then headed off to Dan-y-Coed. As we got closer, the rain started to ease slightly and by the time we got there the rain was almost stopped completely. To start with we got shown to our rooms, settled in slightly before we had a fire drill to make sure we knew what to do.
Next we sat back in the main hall and had a chance to meet our instructors, Aaron and Pete. They told us what clothing we would need for the activities we were going to do, we went to get it ready while they had a chat with Mr Jones and Miss Howells.
We got ourselves sorted and headed back downstairs. It was decided that we would have our lunch before leaving, so we tucked into a variety of sandwiches, crisps, welsh cakes and fruit.
Once our food was completed we got onto the minibus and headed to Bracelet Bay to do some rock hopping.
We started by scrambling down onto the beach and then began to head on, over and around the rocks towards the Lighthouse. Some of us found the rock hopping really easy and were confident; others found it a bit more difficult, but made slow and steady pace. Despite this, we all really enjoyed the day.
Due to the tide coming in, we didn’t quite make it to the Lighthouse, so instead we ventured in and through some of the many caves and caverns dotted along the coast.
As we headed back to the minibus, we saw a couple having their wedding pictures taken, as we walked past, the photographer got us involved, so we ended up ‘photobombing’ their wedding.
Back in Dan-y-Coed we were able to have a shower, get changed and enjoy some downtime before having our evening meal.
We enjoyed some lovely pizza and homemade chips, with salad and coleslaw if we wanted, followed by delicious chocolate cake and washed down with some squash.
To end our first day we headed along the coastal path to Blackpill. Some of the children decided they wanted to have a game of football on the grass, while the majority of the rest decided they wanted to have a swim in the pool.
We really enjoyed our first day and are looking forward to tomorrow, where we are being split into two groups, half of us are heading to Caswell Bay to do some body boarding, while the other half will be doing some rock climbing.
If you would like to leave a comment here, we will make sure to read them to your children tomorrow.
