What a difference a day makes. For our last full day, the weather couldn't have been better. The sky was blue and there was not a cloud in the sky. We split back up into 2 groups and headed to different places. Both groups were going rock climbing, one group went to Mewslade and the other close to Port Eynon.
The group that went to Mewslade had 2 climbing opportunities. One of the slopes was easier, then the other was a bit more of a challenge. Most of the children had a go at this and all of them really enjoyed. Afterwards we had the chance to go through a tiny cave that was cut into the side of the hill. It was really dark and scary in there. Before heading back we had a quick paddle in the sea to wet our aching feet. The quote of the day had to go to one of the children, who asked "What are these small brown stones?" when walking close to some sheep.
The other group, started on a long work through several fields before a steep walk down to the area where we would be climbing. We made our way down, a few of us nearly got stung by nettles, but eventually got down to the area. We had two ropes working together, where we worked in groups. One person was climbing, while the other 3 were responsible for anchoring the rope and supporting the person climbing. We all had a great time, even though it was really scary leaning back when we had to come back down. We then started the long walk back to the bus, where time was passed by Adam showing some of us how we could shoot the top off some plants at each other.
In the evening we had our last meal here, fish fingers and chips followed by lemon drizzle cake for desert. It was really tasty and we all enjoyed it. We then set out for a last play at Blackpill. We have loved going in the pool (even if it was a bit cold) and playing in the park. When we got back we had some biscuits and Hot chocolate while we filled in our diaries of the day.
This has been an amazing week and we have really enjoyed all the activities. We are heading to Mumbles tomorrow morning for a Joe's Ice cream before we head back to school. Looking forward to seeing everyone, and telling them how good a time we have had.
