We started off my heading along the cycle track towards Blackpill, then crossed the road and continued on the cycle path through Clyne Wood. After a few hundred yards we moved off the track and up a really steep, muddy slope. When we reached the top we dropped our bags off and had a few games of eagle Eye, while Stuart and Nick went to set up an activity. The games were really fun, with some children hiding themselves under piles of bags and others covering themselves with leaves.
Stuart and Nick came back and took us to where they had been. They had set up a rope course amongst the trees and we had to work in pairs to guide our blindfolded partner around the course. Some parts were quite easy, but in other places we had to direct them through, over and under the trees. Once we had all had a go at directing and being directed, we settled down for our sandwiches.
After lunch we continued to walk up the hill and explore the woods. Eventually we made our way to a cleared area where there were piles of dead branches dotted around the place. Stuart split us up into groups and gave us the challenge of building dens that all the members of our group could fit in. This was hard work, but after a lot of work all the groups managed it. There were lots of different types of den.
To finish out woodland activities we walked back down the hill to the river, where we were planning on doing some river crossing using the ropes, however due to the amazing weather we’ve had the water level was quite low. Stuart and Nick decided then than rather than try to cross the river, we should get in, and walk our way down the river and back towards the sea, and Dan y Coed. The majority of us got in and we carefully walked down, quite a few people fell in, and were left with soggy trousers, tops and bags (Luckily we took all cameras out before we started). After a while we got out and headed back.
Once back we had a quick wash and went for food. We had fish fingers and chips, with really delicious chocolate cupcakes for pudding and to make things even better, Mr Osborne came down to visit us. Once food was over we started the hard job of emptying the dry room and packing our suitcases. We decided to get it done tonight, so we will have more time for activities in the morning.
In the night, we stayed in and played a few games. First was the chocolate game. We all sat in a circle around a table in the middle and had to roll the dice. Once we rolled a 6, we could go to the table in the middle, put on a hat, scarf and gloves, and then try to eat a bar of chocolate using a knife and fork. This was really exciting; some of us got to eat 8 pieces, while others didn’t manage to roll a 6 at all.
The last game we played was boys –v- girls water football. Mr Jones filled a tray with water and dropped a bottle lid in the middle. Taking it in turns the boys and girls played each other by using straws to try and blow the lid to their opponent’s side of the tray. The game was really fun, when it got to the last game Mr Jones said that whoever won this match would be the winner. He counted down 3…2…1, but instead of dropping the lid, he smacked the tray with his hand and soaked the two who were ready to play. We all laughed and found it really funny.
To end the night we started to watch Night at the Museum 2, but we started to drift off to bed in dribs and drags. It was another great day, but we can’t wait to see you all tomorrow.
