Again today we split into two groups. One group went climbing, while the other group completing their orienteering activity.
The climbing group left the Centre and walked down some steep, muddy hills which were a bit slippery and through a field of cows, it was a little scary. Once we got to the rocks by the sea, we tried to do some rock climbing. However due to the tide coming in too quickly, only three people managed to have a go before we had to move on. We moved around the corner and up a bit higher on the rocks and explored some caves. They were very small and cramped, some of us got scared when we felt like we were stuck inside. We went into a few different different caves, so that everyone had a chance to experience inside a cave.
The orienteering group completed the same activities as the children did yesterday. We had a trial run at the Centre, before moving on to Millwood. We had a little more success than the groups yesterday and managed to find 6 of the targets. This could be due to the fact that Stuart had replaced some of the targets that were hard to find yesterday.
After orienteering we went to make some dens and were able to use some tarpaulin that Stuart brought with him to help make our shelter. We tied the four edges around trees and with Stuart's help managed to build a wall out of branches to keep us protected.
Back in the Centre we had Chicken, Croquettes and peas for tea, and also had a lovely visit from Mr Osborne and Mrs Barnes. Once we finished our main meal, we had apple crumble and ice cream for desert. The children, after not being able to go out in the evenings due to the weather were excited to be able to go out into the grounds and have a game of football and eagle eye.
It has been an exciting day, tomorrow the plan is to again split into groups, with each group completing the one activity that they have not experienced so far.
Thank you so much for your messages, it really does give the children a boost in the morning when we read them to them. Please keep them coming. Thank you.
